Hero Pit Bull saves family from fire and drags baby to child’s safety
A quick-thinking pit bull is being called a hero for saving a baby after a fire broke out at an apartment in Stockton, California.
When fire engulfed Nana Chaichanhda’s residence on June 3, her 8-month-old dog Sasha alerted Chaichanhda and the rest of their family.
“I opened [the back door that was banging on] and she ran in and started barking at me like crazy and I said, ‘OK, this is weird. This is not like her,” the dog owner told multiple local news outlets Friday.
That’s when Chaichanhda realized there was a fire in his building.
At that moment, Chaichanhda went into the bedroom to pick up her 7-month-old daughter, Sasha, who had started acting up.
“She had my baby in her diaper and was pulling her out of bed. I was like, ‘Oh my god, what are you doing?’ “, she recalled.
“It means a lot. I owe her everything. If it weren’t for her, I would still be in bed and things could get worse,” the dog owner said proudly.
Luckily the fire only spread to the family’s attic and did not engulf the entire building. In fact, the fire happened on a rare night when Sasha was left outside, and Chaichanhda said that may be the reason her family survived.
Chaichanhda also told CBS Los Angeles that she hopes Sasha’s brave actions will help change the negative perception of pit bulls.
