A Methodist Le Bonheur representative in Memphis told ABC 24 that at least nine babies in total were born at their locations on Leap Day. A baby boy who was born at Saint Francis Hospital-Memphis at 3:56 a.m. local time was photographed with his frog hat after his arrival.

“The leap day babies are wearing little frog hats,” an X (formerly known as Twitter) user tweeted on Thursday along with a picture of a television screen. The image showed a live broadcast from Los Angeles’ KTLA with two newborns lying in their bassinets, each donning a green frog beanie.
Babies born in a Leap Year are often referred to as a “leapling” or a “leaper.”

Meanwhile, in Florida, some babies received full-on outfits to celebrate their births on Thursday.
Sarasota Memorial Healthcare System in Sarasota shared photos on Facebook of a leapling not only wearing its knitted frog hat, but a matching knitted green bottom. Another newborn posed for pics wearing a onesie that read “I am a leap year baby,” with the noteworthy date written out below.

“Extra special welcome to the seven “leaplings” born at SMH-Sarasota and one at SMH-Venice so far! #smhBaby ,” their Facebook post added.
“Happy Birthday leap babies! My oldest baby is a leap baby too and 16 today (technically 4),” one person jokingly added in the comments.
Another wrote, “Adorable [frog emoji] Cute idea , way to go [green heart emoji].”
Good Day Sacramento spoke with a woman named Nicole who “finally hit the double digits,” and celebrated her 12th Leap Year birthday, though she did not reveal her actual adult age. Nicole said that later that evening she was having a party fit for a 12-year-old, complete with bowling, race car driving and more.

“I’ve worked here 29 years, I’ve never seen it happen. It’s amazing,” a nurse told CNN affiliate KCRA at the time.
“I prayed to God for my little baby girl and now we are going to share this amazing bond for the rest of our lives. I am just so happy!” her father, Ivan Peñaloza said, per KTLA .
