Gia đình bối rối khi mèo về nhà mặc áo len ngẫu nhiên
Nó xảy ra mỗi khi anh ta lẻn ra ngoài …
Gia đình của Papa Legba đã tìm thấy anh ta trên đường phố vào năm 2019 và ngay lập tức nhận nuôi anh ta. Họ hy vọng sẽ biến anh ta thành cuộc sống của một con mèo trong nhà, nhưng Papa Legba chưa bao giờ mất đi ham muốn phiêu lưu, và bất cứ khi nào có thể, anh ta tìm cách trốn thoát và đi lang thang trong khu phố một thời gian.
“Khi nó lẻn ra ngoài (chúng tôi cố gắng giữ nó ở lại), nó dường như chạy theo cùng một hướng, như thể nó có một nơi nào đó để đi”, Crystal Robert, mẹ của Papa Legba, nói với The Dodo. “Anh ấy trở về nhà khi được gọi bằng tên, hoặc khi anh ấy nghe thấy tiếng lạch cạch của những món ăn cho mèo.”
Robert luôn nghi ngờ rằng Papa Legba có thể có một gia đình thứ hai gần đó mà anh lẻn ra ngoài để gặp, nhưng cô không bao giờ có thể xác nhận bất cứ điều gì – cho đến một ngày, Papa Legba trở về nhà với một chiếc áo len.
“I can’t believe his second family got him to wear a sweater,” Robert said. “He likes to be held and cuddled, but he hates collars and being brushed. He only likes contact on his own terms … How did they get him to wear a sweater?! Strangely, he seems to like it. He seems more docile, or maybe just embarrassed.”
Papa Legba’s first sweater was a blue striped number, then a few weeks later, he came home wearing a pink festive getup. His most recent addition to his closet is a T-shirt that says, “Born to be awesome.” Robert still has no idea who his second family is, but she’s determined to find out and learn more about Papa Legba’s secret life.
“I have narrowed it down to two houses,” Robert said. “I am making my way to those houses on my rounds with baked goods in the hope of information. I have already met with five families. I haven’t met his other family yet, but I hope we can continue to ‘share’ custody.”
Even though Papa Legba’s family would prefer he stayed home, they’re glad he has another family out there who’s looking out for him and can’t wait to find them eventually so they can thank them for the sweaters.
“I hope people can keep their pets at home, inside,” Robert said. “They are our family and they are safest when with their owners, but if you have a wily cat like ours, I hope you are blessed with generous and lovely neighbors like mine.”
